Roland was scientist with his heart and soul, dedicated to support people and a more open society providing equal chances for everybody. He always has been inspiration, mentor, innovator and role model for all who had the privilege getting to know and respect him. Roland, much too early, passed away on the third of January 2020. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his family during these difficult moments.

We miss you, dear Roland, and say goodbye!

I lost a friend

Since our first meeting in Karlsruhe in 1989 we felt a common mission: equal ideas, thoughts and projects directed by a deep responsibility in promoting equal possibilities for people with special needs. I lost a most valuable partner and a great friend.

The Roland Wagner Award

I cannot believe that the Roland Wagner Award was first initiated 18 years ago and now it will become a very fitting way for us all to remember such a special person who crossed the boundaries of his own profession to make such a difference to the world of accessible and assistive technologies and disability. I would also like to add my sincere condolences to his family and friends - take care at this time.

Good bye and see you

Dear Roland, many thanks, good bye and see you! By Christian Bühler
